Munay Ki
About Munay Ki
I was introduced to the work of Dr. Alberto Villoldo, The Four Winds Society (TFWS), in the 80s through his books, videos, and other media. Years later I began taking several online trainings, most recently including The Shamans Way of Healing, The Rites of the Munay-Ki, and Healing the Dark Side. I also benefit from consistent on-line instruction and discussion through membership in TFWS’s Shaman21 and weekly Shamanic Reiki shares with experienced practitioners from all over the world, which is simply fascinating.
I am a Certified Munay-Ki Practitioner / Teacher and the combination of all of my training, including Usui Holy Fire III® Reiki Master Teacher, as well as my personal experiences, offer a vast array of energy medicine tools to reveal where we can become stuck energetically. It is possible to remove the oppressive weight hidden behind veils of illusion that cause exhaustion, pain, frozen emotions, repetitive patterns, and confusion so that we can step into clear vision and a refreshed life with new direction and vision. It has been a life-long journey.
This training provides energetic healing tools to further support the vast spectrum of my clients’ interests and needs, as well as expanding my own Spiritual awareness. I received the Munay-Ki rites on-line from a Q’ero shaman, Dr. Alberto Villoldo and Marcela Lobos, and from TFWS senior practitioners Karen Hoza, Elise Kost and Steffen Buffel. The Spiritual journey involves daily attention and the willingness to investigate all parts of ourselves, including the good, bad, dark, light, painful, joy-filled parts of our psyche (mind, soul, spirit). “It is possible to transform what is painful into medicine so that we do not see the world through limiting beliefs.” Dr. Alberto Villoldo
The Munay-Ki are a series of ten empowerment rites based on the initiatory practices of the Q’ero shamans of Peru, as taught by anthropologist Alberto Villoldo. “Munay” in Quechua means universal love and “ki” is from the Japanese word for energy, as in life force. According to Alberto Villoldo, as the ten rites of the Munay Ki germinate, our heart awakens, and we feel empowered to dream an entire new world into being.
The rites of the Munay-Ki are based on initiatory practices of the shamans from the Andes mountains, Amazon jungle, and coasts of Peru. It was Dr. Alberto Villoldo who distilled this wisdom throughout decades of working and studying with these master healers, first as a medical anthropologist and then as an initiated shaman. Karpays are rites of initiation and they have existed for millennia in traditions from around the world. They are energetic transmissions or empowerments passed from teacher to student or mentor to mentee. The ten rites of the Munay-Ki include:
- Rite 1: The Healer’s Rite – Hampe Karpay
- Rite 2: The Bands of Power – Chumpi Karpay
- Rite 3: The Harmony Rite – Ayni Karpay
- Rite 4: The Seer’s Rite – Kawak Karpay
- Rite 5: The Day Keeper’s Rite – Pampa Mesayok Karpay
- Rite 6: The Wisdom Keeper’s Rite – Alto Mesayok Karpay
- Rite 7: The Earth Keeper’s Rite: Kurak Akuyek Karpay
- Rite 8: The Starkeeper’s Rite: Mosoq Karpay
- Rite 9: The Creator Rite – Taitanchis Rantis Karpay
- Rite 10: The Rite of the Womb – Kisma Karpay
The Rites of the Munay-Ki are given one at a time. At the time of transmission, Anelena Ackerly provides a detailed description of each rite and guides the client in the proper use of each empowerment rite. The client will also learn how to nurture and grow each of the 10 energetic seeds at the time of transmission.
